After his performance as Erik Killmonger in Black Panther, Michael B. Jordan isn’t ready to leave the superhero world behind him and, instead, he decided to launch his own superhero TV show on Netflix.a

Michael B. Jordan recently announced that he was working on a show called Raising Dion with the help of Dennis Liu, Michael Green (American Gods, Everwood), Charles D. King (Fences) and Carol Barbee (UnREAL Amy). The show was described as an adaptation for a short film produced by Dennis Liu. The filming should start in the coming days because the show is scheduled for 2019 on the streaming platform Netflix.

Raising Dion will follow Nicole Reese, an African-American widow, mother of a son named Dion. As she struggles every day, with the help of her best friend Pat, to raise her son as best as she can, Dion starts to develop magical and superhuman abilities. Nicole then has to protect her son from an organization wanting to use Dion’s abilities for its own profits, as well as keeping him away from the media’s attention.

Pat, Nicole’s best friend, will be played by Jason Ritter. Pat is described as a comics fan and an intelligent and charismatic man who’s really close to Nicole and, especially, to Dion. Michael B. Jordan will also be playing a recurring role in his own show. However, he will only appear sporadically on the show because he’ll be playing Mark, Nicole’s dead husband. Michael B. Jordan‘s character will only be seen during flashbacks. As for Nicole’s role, no actress name was announced yet. This also holds true for Dion’s role.

All eyes are on Michael B. Jordan and his new show, Raising Dion. Will the show be a success ? At first glance, it has all the elements to be. We’ll just have to wait to see.
