Cloris Leachman, Oscar winner and multiple Emmy Award winner, passed away at the age of 94.

Mostly known in France for her role as Ida in the Malcolm in the Middle series, Cloris Leachman was a familiar face to sitcom and comedy fans.

Although she made her debut in the late 1940s in dramas (Actor’s Studio, Kraft Television Theatre, Charlie Wild, Private Detective, Lassie), it was her role as Phyllis Lindstrom in the comedy The Mary Tyler Moore Show that revealed her to the general public. A character that she played again for two seasons in a spin-off called Phyllis.

In 1972, she won the Oscar for Best Supporting Actress for her performance in The Last Picture Show.

Later, Cloris Leachman continued her prolific career in television, appearing on such shows as The Facts of Life, The Nutt House, Walter & Emily, Thanks, The Ellen Show, Touched by an Angel, Malcolm in the middle, Raising Hope, The Eleventh, American Gods and Mad About You.
