As filming begins on season 4 of The Witcher, Netflix has taken the opportunity to announce that the series adapting Andrzej Sapkowski‘s novels has been renewed for a fifth and final season. This final season should bring to the screen the books Baptism of Fire, The Tower of the Swallow and Lady of the Lake, according to the platform’s press release.

Series showrunner Lauren Schmidt Hissrich said of the announcement, “We’re thrilled to be able to bring Andrzej Sapkowski’s books to an epic and satisfying conclusion. It wouldn’t be our show if we didn’t push our family of characters to their absolute limit — stay tuned to see how the story ends.“
Filming for Season 5 will take place at the same time as Season 4, which should reduce the wait between the release of the episodes that make up the final season. The cast includes Liam Hemsworth (Geralt), Anya Chalotra (Yennefer), Freya Allan (Ciri), Joey Batey (Jaskier), Laurence Fishburne (Regis) and Anna Shaffer (Triss).
