The series First Kill, launched last June 10 on Netflix, will not return for a second season. A decision that was dictated by numbers below what was expected as confirmed by Felicia D. Henderson, the showrunner of the series.
“When I got the call to tell me they weren’t renewing the show because the completion rate wasn’t high enough, of course, I was very disappointed.” Felicia D. Henderson told The Daily Beast. “What showrunner wouldn’t be? I’d been told a couple of weeks ago that they were hoping completion would get higher. I guess it didn’t.”
Based on a story by author V. E. Schwab, First Kill follows Juliette (Sarah Catherine Hook), a young vampire who must kill her first victim to take her place in a powerful family. She sets her sights on a newcomer to town, Calliope (Imani Lewis), who turns out to be from a famous line of vampire hunters. The two girls realize that they are going to give each other a hard time, and that they are unfortunately a little too much for each other’s taste.
The only season of First Kill is made of eight episodes and includes in the cast Elizabeth Mitchell, Aubin Wise, Jason R. Moore, Gracie Dzienny, Will Swenson, Phillip Mullings Jr., Dominic Goodman and Jonas Dylan Allen.
