A few weeks after revealing the identities of Clark Kent and Lois Lane, Warner Bros. and DC are adding new names to the cast of Superman: Legacy. As revealed by Vanity Fair, Isabela Merced, Edi Gathegi and Nathan Fillion are expected to join the cast of the film, which is directed and written by James Gunn.

Isabela Merced, known for her roles in Sweet Girl and Dora the Lost City of Gold, will play Hawkgirl, while Edi Gathegi (StartUp, For All Mankind) will play Michael Holt/Mister Terrific. Nathan Fillion (Castle, The Rookie) will play Guy Gardner/Green Lantern. These characters and their actors should quickly become familiar faces, as James Gunn has confirmed on Threads that they will be involved in other projects in the DC Cinematic Universe (DCU).

Shortly after the announcement of these three additions, The Hollywood Reporter revealed a new leak about the cast of Superman: Legacy. The American media outlet revealed that Anthony Carrigan will also be joining the new adventures of the Man of Steel. The American actor, who was nominated for an Emmy Award for Best Supporting Actor in a Comedy for his performance in Barry, will play Rex Mason/Metamorpho. It’s a role the actor, who suffers from alopecia, is looking forward to playing, telling The Hollywood Reporter: “from what I’ve learned of the source material, he didn’t like the way he looked, and I can really relate to that. You know, when he got his powers he thought it was a curse. That’s something that I really felt as well. In my case, I turned it around and saw it as a blessing. So I’m excited to bring that to the table with this character.”

Scheduled for release in 2025, Superman: Legacy is intended to be the first chapter in a new phase of the DCU.
