The Peacock streaming service has decided to clean up its slate by cancelling two YA series: One of Us Is Lying and Vampire Academy. According to Deadline, which broke the news, Peacock was creatively happy with both shows, but they did not generate enough ratings to justify renewal.

One of Us Is Lying, based on the novels by Karen M. McManus, will have had two seasons at Peacock. The first season told the story of what happens when five high school students go to detention and only four make it out alive. As Bronwyn (Marianly Tejada), Nate (Cooper Van Grootel), Addy (Annalisa Cochrane) and Cooper (Chibuikem Uche) all have reason to kill Simon (Mark McKenna), they are all suspects. But they all claim innocence and it’s up to them to find out who’s lying. The second season picks up directly after the events of the first season and thus differs from the original books.

Vampire Academy did not manage to have the same fate as the other creation of Julie Plec: The Vampire Diaries, Legacies and The Originals. The series, which adapted the work of Richelle Mead, followed Lissa (Daniela Nieves), a royal vampire, and her best friend and protector, Rose (Sisi Stringer), as they deal with love, class warfare and ancient magic at their vampire boarding school. When a mysterious bond develops between the two friends, they must work together to understand it, while facing threats from both inside and outside the school. The cast also included Kieron Moore, André Dae Kim, J. August Richards, Anita-Joy Uwajeh, Mia Mckenna-Bruce, Rhian Blundell, Jonetta Kaiser and Andrew Liner.

Following the cancellation of Vampire Academy, fans of the show have started the #SaveVampireAcademy on Twitter while Julie Plec said she and her team will be looking for a new home for Vampire Academy. She added that she can’t imagine “a show people like with so much story left to tell not having a chance to do so.” Will the series be saved from cancellation by another channel or streaming platform? We’ll know in the next few weeks.
