Dead Day, the comic book by Ryan Parrott and Evgeniy Bornyakov, will also have its own TV adaptation. The project led by Kevin Williamson and Julie Plec (who already worked together on The Vampire Diaries) has obtained a direct order from the Peacock platform. Ryan Parrott will be a consultant on the project.

The series will follow a group of characters during the annual “Dead Day”, a night when the dead come back to life to take care of business, whether it’s to celebrate their return to earth with their families or to torment the living.

In a statement, Julie Plec and Kevin Williamson said, “We have been looking for a project to do together and Dead Day has all the ingredients we love as storytellers. Love, death, thrills and tears — and we know Susan Rovner and her team at Peacock is the perfect fit for this project.”

An enthusiasm also shared by the NBCUniversal Television group to which Peacock belongs. Through Lisa Katz, president of scripted content, the group says: Dead Day combines an exciting, high-concept premise with relatable characters and real emotion. We jumped at the opportunity to work with Julie Plec and Kevin Williamson, who not only have tremendous individual track records with their high-quality storytelling, but have created magic together before.”

At this time, no cast members have been announced.
