Almost 50 years after its release in the USA, Judy Blume’s novel Forever is back in the spotlight after Netflix ordered a TV series adaptation.

Some stories are timeless, and Judy Blume‘s is proof of that. The author finds herself back in the spotlight thanks to Netflix. One of her stories, “Forever”, will soon be adapted into a TV series for the streaming platform.

Themes dear to teens

“Forever” deals with the question of first love for young adults. Katherine and Michael meet on New Year’s Eve and never leave each other’s side. But as the holidays approach, fear sets in: will their love survive the season? Desire, wonder, trust, Judy Blume touches on many themes that are dear to teenagers. The protagonists, who will be called Keisha Clark and Justin Edwards in the Netflix adaptation, will be played by Lovie Simone (Greenleaf) and Michael Cooper Jr. (The Inhabitant), while Regina King will direct the first episode.
