Regardless of the current health situation, studios and channels continue to make casting announcements for already existing series or for projects under development. Let’s take a closer look.
The Mandalorian – Disney +
Boba Fett’s character will appear in the second season of
The Mandalorian, according to The
Hollywood Reporter. The famous Star Wars bounty hunter will be
played by Temuera Morrison. The New Zealand actor
is no stranger to the Star Wars universe since he played
Jango Fett, Boba Fett’s father, in Attack of the Clones. (Source)
Timoty Olyphant (Deawood) will also be part of the cast for season 2 of The Mandalorian. We don’t know at the moment if he will play a new character or one that the Star Wars fans are already familiar with. (Source)
Cruel Summer – Freeform
Olivia Holt (Cloak & Dagger) has been
chosen to play the lead role in the thriller Cruel
Summer, initially known as Last Summer.
Produced by Jessica Biel, Cruel
Summer will take place over three summers between
1993 and 1995 in a small Texas town where a popular teenage girl,
Kate (Olivia Holt), is kidnapped. At the same
time, Jeannette (Chiara Aurelia), who has no
apparent connection to Kate, goes from being a clumsy girl to the
most popular girl in town before becoming the most hated person in
the United States. Each episode will be told from the point of view
of one of the two girls. (Source)
Kevin Can F*** Himself – AMC
Raymond Lee (Here and Now) and
Brian Howe (The Client List) join the
cast of Kevin Can F*** Himself as series
regulars. This dark comedy for AMC will focus on the secret life of
a sitcom wife named Allison (Annie Murphy).
Raymond Lee will play Sam Beverley, a strong and
handsome man who returns to Worcester to open a high-end
restaurant. For his part, Brian Howe will play
Pete McRoberts, Allison’s husband’s father. (Source)
Motherland: Fort Salem – Freeform
Lyne Renee, a recurring guest throughout the first
season of Motherland: Fort Salem, is promoted to a series regular
for the second season. Her role in the series, which began in 2020,
is that of General Sarah Adler.(Source)
Pivoting – Fox
Ginnifer Goodwin (Once Upon A Time) has been
chosen to play one of the lead roles in the comedy
Pivoting, alongside Eliza
Coupe and Tommy Dewey. The series will
follow Amy (Eliza Coupe), Jodie (Ginnifer
Goodwin) and Sarah, who after the death of their childhood
best friend decide to find happiness at all costs. They will then
make a series of impulsive and ill-advised decisions that will
prove that it is never too late to ruin your life.
Jodie’s character is basically a mother of three children married to a man who doesn’t leave her any time for herself. But she manages to find the attention and affection she needs in the arms of her personal trainer.(Source)
