In the United States, the trend is to make reboots and sequels and Spartacus, the series that made Starz happy between 2010 and 2013, will not avoid it. In a statement issued on February 9, the American channel has made official the order of a sequel, ten years after the end of the original series. A new chapter that will be signed by Steven S. DeKnight, creator, writer and executive producer of Spartacus.

The channel specifies, in its release, that this sequel will take place after the defeat of Spartacus and his rebel army. The drama series will depict a new story of betrayal, deception and murder in the ominous shadow of Rome. Fans will be able to stay in a similar universe as they did with the original series. Will this new iteration of Spartacus feature any familiar faces? Nothing has been made official yet about the casting of this Spartacus sequel, but no doubt fans would not mind.

It is with these fans in mind that Starz has decided to give Spartacus a new life, as Kathryn Busby, president of original programming at the network, said: “Spartacus has deeply invested fans who are eager for its return, and we look forward to working with Steven on this exciting next chapter.”

For his part, Steven DeKnight said it was a great honor to return to the world of Spartacus. He also promises that this new chapter will be “something truly unique and unusual for the next chapter in this epic story”. This will raise the expectations of the fans of the original series.
