The CW is actively working on its 2022-2023 schedule. After having officially ordered a pilot for a Supernatural spin-off, the American network has given the green light to the development of two other projects: Gotham Knights and Walker: Independence.

Gotham Knights, whose pilot is being developed by the trio Chad Fiveash, James Stoteraux and Natalie Abrams (a trio already working on Batwoman), will focus on the characters created by Bob Kane and Bill Finger. The series will take us to a city of Gotham where Bruce Wayne has taken his last breath. His adopted son is forced to form an alliance with the children of Batman’s enemies when they are all accused of killing the Dark Knight. But in the absence of the masked vigilante, Gotham becomes increasingly dangerous and the group of fugitives will become the new generation of saviors of the city.

The pilot will be directed by Danny Cannon (Gotham, Pennyworth) who will also be an executive producer alongside Greg Berlanti (The Flash), Sarah Schechter (Free Guy) and David Madden (Superman and Lois).

Walker: Independence, meanwhile, will be a prequel to the Walker series and will be set in the 19th century. Created by Seamus Fahey (Battlestar Galactica) – who is also in charge of the script – Anna Fricke (Everwood) and Jared Padalecki (Supernatural), the series will follow Abby Walker, a wealthy Bostonian whose husband is murdered while traveling west. In search of revenge, Abby meets Hoyt Rawlins, a lovable thug looking for a purpose. They settle in Independence, Texas, a place where nothing is what it seems.

Will these two projects make it beyond the status of a simple pilot episode? We will have an answer in the next few weeks.
