The Phelps family will no longer be haunted on Starz. The American network has just announced the cancellation of Shining Vale after two seasons. The announcement comes just over two weeks after the Season 2 cliffhanger finale episode aired.

In a press release sent to TVLine, Starz says: “Unfortunately Shining Vale did not find a large enough audience for us to continue, but we hope to have the opportunity to partner with Courteney Cox, Jeff Astrof and Sharon Horgan in the future.” For its part, Variety tells us that the network will go even further by not offering the show on its streaming platform after December 31, 2023. That means there are only a few days left to discover both seasons of Shining Vale.

Jeff Astrof, co-creator of the series with Sharon Horgan, admits to being “crushed and deeply saddened” by the news of Shining Vale‘s cancellation. He confides that he hopes another platform will pick up the show, as they “still have lots of story to tell — and Season 3 has already been partially written.

What was the Shining Vale series about?

Starring Courteney Cox and Greg Kinnear, Shining Vale follows the Phelps family as they move from New York to an old Victorian mansion in Connecticut to start a new life and save the marriage of Pat and Terry Phelps. But the house they live in is a place where terrible atrocities have taken place, and no one seems to notice, except Pat, who is convinced she’s either depressed or possessed.

The cast includes Gus Birney, Merrin Dungey, Dylan Gage, Mira Sorvino, James M. Connor, Sherilyn Fenn, Parvesh Cheena, Alysia Reiner and Judith Light.
