The crew of the Straw Hat will continue to sail on Netflix. After a particularly well-received first season, the One Piece series has been given a second season by the streaming platform. A decision that makes sense when you look at the figures presented by Netflix. Since its release on August 31, 2023, the series has been ranked in the top 10 in 93 countries, with 37.8 million views. A fine achievement at a time when there were many fears about this adaptation.

To announce the news, Netflix called on Eiichiro Oda, the creator of One Piece. Very involved in the development of the series, he thanks fans old and new for supporting One Piece on Netflix and adds that the series has been renewed for a Season 2: “The adventures of Iñaki and the live-action Straw Hats will continue onward” Eiichiro Oda points out that it will take some time until the scripts are ready and asks for patience, even though Tomorrow Studios told Variety that the scripts for season 2 are already written. In any case, filming of the series cannot begin while the strike in Hollywood continues.

While the number of episodes in season 2 of One Piece will be revealed at a later date, we can already look forward to discovering a new member of the Straw Hat crew: Tony Tony Chopper. At the end of his message, Eiichiro Oda teases that the crew will need a great doctor from now on. Chopper’s presence will be a new challenge for the entire special effects team, who will have to portray the shape-shifting humanoid reindeer with the blue nose as accurately as possible.

Season 2 of One Piece will see the return of Iñaki Godoy, Mackenyu, Emily Rudd, Jacob Romero and Taz Skylar as Monkey D. Luffy, Roronoa Zoro, Nami, Usopp and Sanji respectively.
