FOX revealed the fate of two of its new releases: while the animated series Duncanville convinced the channel to renew it for a second season, that was not the case for Deputy. Let’s take a look.

The Deputy series didn’t last long on FOX. The American network has decided to cancel the series created by Will Beall after a mere 13-episode season.

Deputy starred Stephen Dorff as Bill Hollister, a field-trained deputy sheriff who finds himself promoted to sheriff of Los Angeles County after the death of his superior. Through his new position, he will try to do justice with the help of a talented and diverse team, while dealing with a world overrun by politics and used to playing by its own rules.

The series failed to find an audience and is ranked among the channel’s worst drama series. The cast also included Yara Martinez (Jane the Virgin), Brian Van Holt (Cougar Town), Bex Taylor-Klaus (13 Reasons Why), Shane Paul McGhie (Greenleaf), Danielle Moné Truitt (Rebel), Natalia Cigliuti (Raising the bar) et Mark Moses (Desperate Housewives).

Duncanville: A Season 2 for FOX’s new animated series

FOX’s animated series are doing well. After Bless the Harts, Duncanville is the second new animated series to be granted a second season. Created by Amy Poehler (Parks and Recreation), Mike Scully (The Simpsons) and Julie Thacker (The Simpsons), the series follows Duncan Harris, an “average” 15-year-old teenager who is always on the verge of making the wrong decisions in his life and has a vivid imagination.

In a press release, Michael Thorn, President of Entertainment for Fox Entertainment, said: “Duncanville is another great addition to our Sunday Animation Domination block. Amy, Mike and Julie have been fantastic partners, as have the teams at 20th and Universal Television. Our thanks also go out to the entire voice cast, including Ty, Riki, Betsy, Yassir, Zach, Joy, Rashida and Wiz. Duncan may be an average teen. However, the show is anything but, and we can’t wait for a brand-new season of Harris family adventures.”

The show features the voices of Amy PoehlerTy Burrell (Modern Family), Riki Lindhome (Another Period), Betsy Sodaro (Disjointed), Yassir Lester (Black Monday), Joy Osmanski (Santa Clarita Diet), Wiz Khalifa ou encore Rashida Jones (Angie Tribeca).
