Coming soon on Netflix, the fifth and final season of Lucifer will be the opportunity to meet a central character in the story: God. While he is regularly evoked by several of the main characters of the series, the character who is said to be the cause of every misfortune of Lucifer (Tom Ellis) will make a flesh and blood appearance in the upcoming episodes. According to EW, God will appear throughout the season but no further details have been revealed.

To portray this almighty character, the production has decided to trust Dennis Haysbert, known for playing President David Palmer in the “24” series. A series in which D.B. Woodside, the actor who plays Amenadiel in Lucifer, played the brother of Dennis Haysbert‘s character.

Joe Henderson, co-showrunner of the series, said that Dennis Haysbert was their first choice among the huge list of actors considered for the role. He said, “We were lucky. It was our first and only offer”. This arrival was facilitated by the presence of D.B. Woodside in the cast, as Dennis Haysbert confirmed: “Every time I see D.B., there’s always this fondness and this connection… We worked on a show that was arguably one of the best shows ever produced in television, so you’re going to have a kind of camaraderie”, says Haysbert, before adding with a laugh, “I don’t know how I went from brothers to father. We’re celestial. We can do that.”
