Kevin Conroy, famous voice of the Dark Knight in Batman: The Animated Series, died at the age of 66 from cancer.

Considered by many as “THE” voice of Batman, he dubbed this character over the past 30 years in various series, animated films and video games. He was notably heard in Batman Beyond, Justice League, Justice League Unlimited, Justice League Action or The New Batman Adventures.

Mark Hamill, who dubbed the Joker in Batman: The Animated Series, paid tribute to the actor: “Kevin was perfection. He was one of my favorite people on the planet, and I loved him like a brother. He truly cared for the people around him – his decency shone through everything he did. Every time I saw him or spoke with him, my spirits were elevated.”

Diane Pershing, who lent her voice to the character of Poison Ivy, also had some words in honor of Kevin Conroy: “our beloved voice of Batman, Kevin Conroy, died yesterday. He’s been ill for a while but he really put in a lot of time at the cons, to the joy of all of his fans. He will be sorely missed not just by the cast of the series but by his legion of fans all over the world.”
