British actress Helen McCrory died of cancer at the age of 52. The information was revealed by her husband, Damian Lewis, on Twitter.

Fans of Harry Potter knew her as the actress of Narcissa Malfoy. Those of Peaky Blinders enjoyed her as Aunt Polly. She was a familiar face on TV, having played in Roadkill, His Dark Materials, MotherFatherSon, Fearless, To Appotamox, Penny Dreadful, Leaving, Life, The Jury or North Square.

In a tweet, Damian Lewis says: “I’m heartbroken to announce that after an heroic battle with cancer, the beautiful and mighty woman that is Helen McCrory has died peacefully at home, surrounded by a wave of love from friends and family. She dies as she lived. Fearlessly. God we love her and know how lucky we are to have had her in our lives. She blazed so brightly. Go now, Little One, into the air, and thank you.”

Cillian Murphy, her co-star in Peaky Blinders, paid tribute to her, saying she was “a beautiful, caring, funny, compassionate human being”. He also points out that it was “a privilege to have worked with this brilliant woman, to have shared so many laughs over the years.”
