In the works for the past two years, the series Percy Jackson and the Olympians has just been made official by Rick Riordan, the author of the books that will serve as the basis for this new Disney+ production.
The series will follow Percy Jackson, a 12-year-old demigod who is just beginning to accept his new supernatural powers when Zeus accuses him of stealing his lightning bolt. Percy must then travel across America to find him and restore order to Olympus.
No name has yet filtered for the casting but we know that the pilot will be given to James Bobin, director of the first episode of the series The Mysterious Benedict Society.
In a statement, Ayo Davis, president of Disney Branded Television, promises a “compelling TV series” with “stories that are true to the blockbuster franchise and full of anticipation, humor, surprise, and mystery”.
