Prime Video promised that the first season of its Citadel series would be the start of a franchise, and it wasn’t lying. With two interconnected spin-offs already in production, The Hollywood Reporter reports that Amazon Studios has decided to renew Citadel ahead of its launch next April.

Apart from this announcement, there is little information about the second season of Citadel. The American media specifies that the number of episodes that will compose it is not yet known, while the first season 1 will have six episodes. The Hollywood Reporter’s sources add that David Weil (Hunters) will once again be the showrunner, while the Russo brothers will return to direct several episodes.

Second most expensive series on Prime Video behind The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power, Citadel tells the story of Mason Kane (Richard Madden) and Nadia Sinh (Priyanka Chopra Jonas), two elite spies from Citadel, an independent spy agency, who lost their memories after a near-death experience. As they each begin new lives, Mason is asked by a former colleague to foil the plans of Manticore, a powerful syndicate seeking to establish a new world order. To accomplish his mission, he will need the help of his former partner, Nadia. A journey through the world and their past begins to prevent Manticore from achieving its goals.

The first season of Citadel will premiere on Prime Video on April 28, 2023. You can check out a trailer below.
