On April 28, Prime Video is giving fans of action and espionage thrillers a date with the series Citadel. Directed in part by the Russo brothers, this new series is intended to be the beginning of a franchise that will benefit from interconnected spin-offs. Two series that will expand the Citadel universe are already in production in Italy and India.

As for the original 6-episode series, Prime Video tells us that it will focus on Mason Kane (Richard Madden) and Nadia Sinh (Priyanka Chopra Jonas), two elite spies from Citadel, an independent spy agency, who had their memories wiped when they narrowly escaped death. Unaware of their past, they build new lives until the day a former colleague of Mason’s asks him to stop Manticore, a powerful syndicate operating in the shadows, from establishing a new world order. To help him in his mission, he’ll have to find his former partner, Nadia. Then begins a journey through the world and her past to thwart Manticore’s plans.

While the first two episodes of Citadel will be released on April 28, 2023 on Prime Video, the streaming platform offers us a first glimpse of the series through a two-minute trailer. A video that confirms that the action will be there and suggests that Mason and Nadia were more than just colleagues.

In addition to Richard Madden (Game of Thrones) and Priyanka Chopra Jonas (Quantico), the cast of Citadel includes Stanley Tucci (Hunger Games), Osy Ikhile (The Feed), Lesley Manville (The Crown), Ashleigh Cummings (NOS4A2), Roland Møller (Sløborn) and Caoilinn Springall.
