Always considered a franchise, the Citadel series was quickly renewed for a second season and has also been offered two spin-offs: one set in Italy, the other in India. In recent days, Prime Video has revealed more details about the Italian series, which will be called Citadel: Diana.

Matilda De Angelis, the star of Citadel: Diana

Expected in 2024 on Prime Video, the Citadel: Diana series unveiled its first action-packed teaser at the end of episode 6 of Citadel, the final episode of the first season. The sequence confirms that Matilda De Angelis will play the lead role in this Italian spin-off.

Known for her roles in La legge di Lidia Poët and The Undoing, the Italian actress will be joined in the cast by Lorenzo Cervasio (Il paradiso delle signore), Maurizio Lombardi (The New Pope), Julia Piaton (Family Business), Thekla Reuten (Warrior Nun), Giordana Faggiano (Blackbird), Daniele Paoloni (Marilyn ha gli occhi neri), Bernhard Schütz (Barbares) and Filippo Nigro (Suburra).

Produced and filmed in Italy, Citadel: Diana finished shooting earlier this year under the direction of Arnaldo Catinari, who previously worked on Suburra season 3.

At the moment, the number of Citadel: Diana episodes, the series synopsis and the exact broadcast date are unknown.

What is Citadel, from which the Citadel: Diana series is based on, about?

Citadel tells the story of Mason Kane (Richard Madden) and Nadia Sinh (Priyanka Chopra Jonas), two elite spies from Citadel, an independent spy agency, who lost their memories after a near-death experience.

As they embark on a new life, Mason is asked by a former colleague to foil the plans of Manticore, a powerful syndicate intent on establishing a new world order. To accomplish his mission, he needs the help of his former partner, Nadia. Thus begins a journey through the world and their past to prevent Manticore from achieving its goals.
