The Lord of the Rings, Tolkien, Middle Earth… Those names are obviously ringing a bell. That we liked it or not, we all heard of The Lord of the Rings. J.R.R Tolkien’s masterpiece is known worldwide. Movies, books and video games are trying to recount the events happening in Middle Earth. There is more than millions of The Lord of the Rings fans and it’s still as successfull as it once was.
That’s why, when Amazon paid 250$ million to access the rights for a TV adaptation of The Lord of the Rings, all eyes were on Jeff Bezos, Amazon’s CEO. Throwing so much money into this project is obviously good news. There’s very few informations concerning the project for now, but we know that it’s gonna be the more expensive show of all time. As you know, the show will be airing on Amazon Prime Video and Amazon is ready to pay at least a billion dollars in order to please all the Lord of the Rings fans out there ! One thing is certain : that’s an enormous amount of money.
To make a quick comparison : one episode of The Crown (known, for a time, as the most expensive show existing) cost 15$ millions, just like Game of Thrones episodes. The Lord of the Rings TV show should have at least 5 seasons and the shooting will start near the end of 2019. We’ll have to wait a bite more for more juicy news about the show.
