April 21: Netflix announces the acquisition of the distribution rights for the feature film “Enola Holmes” directed by Harry Bradbeer. After being transformed into comic books, Nancy Springer‘s youthful stories about the life of Sherlock Holmes’ younger sister will come to life on the famous streaming platform. The film, produced by Legendary Picture, does not yet have a release date, but we already know that the shooting has been completed. The headliners include Millie Bobby Brown, Henry Cavill, Fiona Shaw, Sam Claflin and Helena Bonham Carter.

Resourcefulness and ingenuity

It takes place in 1880, when Enola Holmes, sister of the famous detective, discovers at the age of 16 that her mother has disappeared, leaving her nothing but a collection of flowers and a notebook with coded messages. From that point on, the teenager starts looking for her. While her two brothers have made up their minds about sending her to a boarding school in order to have her become a real “Lady”, she will have to rely on her resourcefulness and ingenious disguise techniques to flee the family manor.

The novels, like Serena Blasco‘s comic books, have six volumes. Enough material to broaden the plot of the film which will be available soon.
