Whether you need a bit of midweek motivation, a kick into action on your side hustle, or just something totally bingeable that’s got women at the center of it, we’ve got you covered. All of these shows are available on Netflix right now and they all feature some kickass women. There are documentaries, dramatizations of real-life stories, series, films, and more, so whatever kind of viewer you are, there’ll be something to take your fancy.

Tidying Up With Marie Kondo (2019)

First on the list is one that many of us could benefit from watching, but not so many of us would admit to needing: Tidying Up with Marie Kondo. This powerhouse of a personal organizer is here to whip your drawer of shame into shape and, much as we’d usually cringe at the mere idea of somebody opening that drawer, somehow Marie Kondo makes it feel okay. She takes the approach of purging the things that we don’t need in order to simplify our lives, our wardrobes, our kitchen cupboards, you name it. Each homeowner that she visits has their home transformed by her in simple but endlessly viewable steps. If you feel inspired to do a big clearout after watching then remember – if it doesn’t spark joy, it’s got to go.

Poker Queens (2020)

A world away from the organization of Marie, Poker Queens follows the lives of professional poker players as they build up to a career-defining tournament. There are fewer women than you might think in the world of professional poker – around 5% of players are female – so getting an insight into the unique challenges that these women face is both fascinating and inspiring. One of the main characters that the documentary follows has actually dressed up as a man in order to play at a poker tournament. Some of the stories are wild, some are a little depressing and a real comment on gender equality in the 21st century, but despite that, all of them manage to be inspiring. If you’ve not considered getting into poker before then you honestly might after watching this feature-length doc.

Wednesday (2023)

If you’ve made it this far without watching an episode of Tim Burton’s Wednesday then you’re definitely in the minority. This show burst onto our screens at the end of last year, but it has a cult following already. Jenna Ortega plays the titular character Wednesday Addams and does it with such style that she’s been the subject of literally millions of TikTok videos and has snagged the part for a second season. Whilst Wednesday isn’t a business woman or a professional poker player, she is a fiercely devoted older sister who will let nothing stand in between her and justice, or sometimes just a bit of revenge. Anyone who’s ever felt like an outcast will love watching the way that Wednesday navigates life as a goth girl living in a world full of normies. She’s classy, a little sassy, and has such great style that she’s endlessly watchable. We’ve already watched the whole series and are eagerly awaiting the next.
