After several weeks of rumors, the name of the actress who will play Abby in Season 2 of The Last of Us has been revealed. As expected, it’s actress Kaitlyn Dever (Last Man Standing, No One Will Save You), who will lend her features to the character who plays a central role in the franchise’s second video game, and thus in the upcoming episodes on HBO.
In a statement, series co-creators Craig Mazin and Neil Druckmann explained the choice: “Our casting process for Season 2 has been identical to Season 1: We look for world-class actors who embody the souls of the characters in the source material. Nothing matters more than talent, and we’re thrilled to have an acclaimed performer like Kaitlyn join Pedro (Pascal), Bella (Ramsey) and the rest of our family.”
The character of Abby, who will be played by Kaitlyn Dever in season two of The Last of Us, is described as “a skilled soldier whose black-and-white view of the world is challenged as she seeks vengeance for those she loved”. With production set to begin in the coming weeks, we’ll have to be patient before we see the first images of the actress as Abby.
