Since its acquisition by Nexstar, The CW has limited the number of scripted series in its schedule, but that hasn’t stopped the American network from developing some new projects. The proof? The network has ordered two series developed in partnership with Canadian networks.

The first, titled Sight Unseen, will follow Tess Avery (Dolly Lewis), a renowned homicide detective who is forced to quit her job after nearly killing her partner and being diagnosed clinically blind. Reluctant to accept help, Tess uses an assistance app and connects with Sunny Patel (Agam Darshi), a professional guide and agoraphobic living 3,000 kilometers away. Using a hidden camera and earpiece, Sunny remotely guides Tess through life’s obstacles and the unfinished business she’s left behind. The cast of this CTV co-production includes two CW series regulars: Jarod Joseph, best known for his role on The 100, and Daniel Gillies, a former cast member of The Vampire Diaries and The Originals. The cast of Sight Unseen also includes Alice Christina-Corrigan (Doctors) and Tony Giroux (Motherland: Fort Salem).

The second production in development is called Wild Cards and will star Vanessa Morgan (Riverdale) and Giacomo Gianniotti (Grey’s Anatomy). The series, co-produced with CBC, will follow Ellis (Giacomo Gianniotti), a police officer who has been demoted from his role as a detective, and Max (Vanessa Morgan), a feisty, intelligent young woman who rips off everyone she meets. When Max is arrested and ends up helping Ellis solve a crime, they have a chance to redeem themselves, with Ellis becoming a detective again and Max staying out of jail. But to do so, they must work together and learn to deal with each other’s methods.

You’ll have to be patient to discover these new series, as Sight Unseen and Wild Cards are expected to debut on The CW in 2024.
