Ten days after making the Suits spinoff official, NBC has revealed the name of its lead character. Let’s take a look.

Five years after the end of its run on Peacock, the Suits franchise, which got a boost after its arrival on Netflix in 2023, is about to get a new spinoff. After Chicago in the Pearson spinoff, we’re heading to the City of Angels with Suits: LA. In this new series we’ll follow a new team of lawyers led by the character of Ted Black. The role has been given to Stephen Amell, best known for playing Oliver Queen in the Arrowverse.

The character played by Stephen Amell will be a former federal prosecutor from New York who has teamed up with his old friend Stuart Lane to start a firm in Los Angeles specializing in criminal and entertainment law. But when “his firm is at a crisis point, and in order to survive he must embrace a role he held in contempt his entire career. Ted is surrounded by a group of characters who test their loyalties to both Ted and each other while they can’t help but mix their personal and professional lives. All of this is going on while events from years ago slowly unravel that led Ted to leave behind everything and everyone he loved.” The description of Ted Black also makes it clear that he’s a charismatic force of nature who puts his own needs before those of others.

With production of Suits L.A. set to begin in March, casting announcements are expected to follow in the coming weeks. The script will be written by Aaron Korsh, creator of the original series, while Victoria Mahoney will direct the pilot.
