South African actress, Lesley-Ann Brandt, known to the general public for her roles in Spartacus (Naevia) and Lucifer (Maze) shared a Deadline article on her Instagram account to announce her next project. She joins, for a recurring role, one of the spin-offs of The Walking Dead, and will play the character of Pearl Thorne, described by the actress as “VERY South African” in her post on the social network.
This 6-episode series, scheduled for 2024 on AMC, has reportedly begun shooting in New Jersey. This spin-off of The Walking Dead will conclude the love story between Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) and Michonne (Danai Gurira). Here is the official synopsis: “Kept apart by distance. By an unstoppable power. By the ghosts of who they were. Rick and Michonne are thrown into another world, built on a war against the dead… And ultimately, a war against the living. Can they find each other and who they were in a place and situation unlike any they’ve ever known before? Are they enemies? Lovers? Victims? Victors? Without each other, are they even alive — or will they find that they, too, are the Walking Dead?”
Since the end of The Walking Dead in 2022, several spin-offs have been announced by AMC, each focusing on different characters from this universe.
Besides the one with Rick and Michonne, a second spin-off will focus on the characters of Negan and Maggie (The Walking Dead: Dead City) and should be released in June 2023. The third spin-off that has been made official will focus on Daryl (Norman Reedus) as he travels through France.
