Season 9 of The Flash, expected to start on February 8, 2023 on The CW, will have some special guests for its final episodes.

The American network announced that Stephen Amell (Oliver Queen/Arrow), Keiynan Lonsdale (Wally West/Kid Flash), David Ramsey (John Diggle/Spartan) and Sendhil Ramamurthy (Dr. Ramsey Rosso/Bloodwork) will all be in the cast of this final season of The Flash.

Eric Wallace, executive producer of the series, explained these different returns. Regarding Stephen Amell, he said: “As soon as our final season was announced, we knew we wanted Stephen to come back and reprise his iconic role as Oliver Queen. After all, it was Oliver who originally launched Barry Allen (played by Grant Gustin) on his heroic path. That’s why everyone on Team Flash felt so strongly that it was important to create a full-circle moment with Oliver’s return in the final season of The Flash.” He adds that the result “is an epic-yet-emotional episode. […] There will be thrills, chills and tears.”

Eric Wallace also highlighted the importance of Diggle and Wally’s characters in The Flash to justify their returns. “As one of the legacy Arrowverse characters who helped start it all, John Diggle holds a special place in our hearts, as well as the fans. […] So, get ready for a very emotional reunion as John Diggle aka Spartan helps protect Central City alongside Team Flash one last time,” he said.

For Wally West, and Keiynan Lonsdale, the showrunner says, “Kid Flash isn’t just another speedster — he’s a beloved part of our Team Flash family. So as soon as we knew he was coming back, we set out to create a special and heartfelt story for his return. The result is a brilliant performance from Keiynan that showcases a side of Wally West you’ve never seen before.”

Season 9 of The Flash will include Grant Gustin (Barry), Candice Patton (Iris), Danielle Panabaker (Caitlin), Danielle Nicolet (Cecile), Brandon McKnight (Chester), Kayla Compton (Allegra) and Jon Cor (Mark). Javicia Leslie and Nicole Maines, from Batwoman and Supergirl, are also expected to appear in the credits.
