Casting News: Amber Riley starring in a music comedy on NBC, a transgender character in Charmed, ...

I Love This For You – Showtime
Cybill Shepherd (Cybill), Paul James (Greek) and Ayden Mayeri (Harder Than It Looks)are joining the I Love This For You series, co-created and produced by Vanessa Bayer (Sound Advice) and Jeremy Beiler (Saturday Night Live). I Love This for Youis a comedy in which Vanessa Bayer plays a character, inspired by her own past, who overcame childhood leukemia and fulfilled her lifelong dream of getting a job as a shopping channel host. Cybill Shepherd will play the role of Patricia Kunken, the channel’s cold and enigmatic founder. Ayden Mayeri will be one of the channel’s employees and Paul James will portray Jordan Wahl, a charming stage manager. (Source)

Animal Kingdom – TNT
Anthony Konechny (Supergirl) has been chosen to play the young version of Billy in the fifth season of Animal Kingdom. The adult version of the character has been played by Denis Leary since season 3. (Source)

Why Women Kill – CBS All Access
Cynthia Quiles (Confess) and Kerry O’Malley (Snowpiercer) will be part of the second season of Why Women Kill. They will both be playing members of Rita’s gardening club. (Source)

Never Have I Ever – Netflix
The second season of Never Have I Ever welcomes Megan Suri (Atypical) to the cast. She will play the character of Aneesa, a new Indian student from Sherman Oaks High School whose confidence and influence will pose an immediate threat to Devi (Maitreyi Ramakrishnan). (Source)

Jack Ryan – Amazon Prime Video
Marianne Jean-Baptiste, previously starring in Without A Trace, will now appear in the third season of Jack Ryan. She will be playing Elizabeth Wright who is the head of a “station”. Production should begin in 2021. (Source)

Snowfall – FX
Antonio Jaramillo will be a recurring guest in the fourth season of Snowfall. The actor, known for his role in Mayans M.C., will play Oscar Fuentes, the new chief of Tijuana’s police force. Bold, ambitious, intelligent and dangerous, he is willing to let Teddy and Gustavo continue their activities in Mexico, but only if they make it worth his while. (Source)

Big Shot – Disney+
Big Shot, the new Disney+ series featuring John Stamos (Full House), has added Keala Settle (The Greatest Showman) and Emery Kelly (Alexa & Katie) to its cast. The series will revolve around Marvyn, a temperamental college basketball coach who after being fired from his job, ends up teaching in an elite private high school for girls. Keala Settle will play Christina Winters, Destiny’s mother, and Emery Kelly will be Dylan, a high school student who plays with Marvyn’s basketball team on a public court. (Source)

Dream – NBC
Amber Riley, best known for her role as Mercedes in Glee, has been chosen to play the lead role in Dream, a new music comedy for NBC. This show will focus on Dream Morgan (Amber Riley), a former teenage mother who decides to change her life in order to pursue her dream of becoming a singer after her son graduates from college. The actress will also be involved as a producer while the script will be written by Lisa Muse Bryant (Black-ish). (Source)

Alondra Delgado (Mayans M.C.) got a recurring role in the third season of the All American series. She will play Vanessa, a new student who happens to be the daughter of the new football coach. She will be surprisingly related to one of her classmates. (Source)

Hightown – Starz
Luis Guzman (Code Black) will join the second season of Hightown for an extensive narrative arc.e will play Jorge Cuevas, Frankie’s cousin, and has been described as a charming and hilarious yet dangerous sociopath. The casting for this second season also features Jona Xiao (Gifted), Charline St. Charles (Jacqueline and Jilly) and Dominic L. Santana (Unsolved). (Source)

Kung Fu – The CW
The Kung Fu reboot adds another member to its cast: Yvonne Chapman. After having appeared in Street Legal, she will be a recurring character in this reboot of the cult series of the 1970s. Yvonne Chapman will portray Zhilan, a tough and cunning assassin, ruthless when it comes to achieving her goals. After stealing an ancient sword from Nicky’s mentor – and almost killing Nicky (Olivia Lang) in the process – Zhilan escapes from China and embarks on a hunt for the remaining mystical weapons. The mystery of Zhilan’s identity, and her real intentions with these weapons, will be the focus of Nicky’s quest for justice. (Source)

For All Mankind – AppleTV+
Scheduled for release on AppleTV+ on February 19th, the second season of For All Mankind welcomes new members to its cast: Cynthy Wu (Now We’re Talking), Coral Peña (The Enemy Within) and Casey W. Johnson (Rise). They will be appearing as series regulars alongside Joel Kinnaman, Michael Dorman and Shantel VanSanten. (Source)

Mary-Louise Parker (Weeds) and Nick Offerman (Parks and Recreation) will play Colin Kapernick’s parents in the series focusing on the youth of the American footballer. The lead role was given a few weeks ago to Jaden Michael (The Bug Diaries). (Source)

J.J. Hawkins (The Red Line) will play the first transgender character in the new version of Charmed. He will join the cast in the recurring role of Kevin, a transsexual male student who inspires one of the Halliwell sisters to take on a tough opponent. (Source)

Heels – Starz
Trey Tucker (The Outpost) and Robby Ramos (Snowfall) have been chosen to play alongside Stephen Amell and Alexander Ludwig in the Heels series. Trey Tucker will portray Bobby Pin, a pure-hearted Texan who may be new to professional wrestling but is a veteran in kindness. The Archive 81 series, inspired by the eponymous horror podcast, adds 5 new members to its cast: Martin Donovan (Big Little Lies), Matt McGorry (How To Get Away With Murder), Julia Chan (Katy Keene), Evan Jonigkeit and Ariana Neal (Hidden Figures).The series will revolve around archivist Dan Turner (Mamoudou Athie) who begins restoring damaged video footage from 1994 and finds himself reconstructing the work of documentary filmmaker Melody Pendras (Dina Shihabi) and her investigation of a dangerous cult. Once Dan is drawn into Melody’s story, he begins to believe that he can save her from the terrifying end she faced 25 years ago. (Source)

Gretchen Mol (Nightflyers) will be playing alongside Jon Bernthal in the reboot of American Gigolo. She will portray Michelle, the one and only true love of Julian Kaye, a man who was sent to prison for 25 years after being framed. (Source)

Liza Colón-Zayas (David Makes Man), John Benjamin Hickey (Manhattan) and Quintessa Swindell (Trinkets)will be part of the fourth season of In Treatment and will play alongside Uzo Aduba. Liza Colón-Zayas will portray Rita, Brooke’s confidant and longtime friend who has been supporting her in her fight against her own demons after a life-changing loss. John Benjamin Hickey will be Colin, a man whose life is changing due to his recent release from prison, and Quintessa Swindell will play Laila, a rebellious client of Brooke’s who is trying to forge her own identity away from her family’s unreasonable expectations. Aaron Dominguez (Should I Do It?) will be appearing as a series regular alongside Steve Martin, Martin Short et Selena Gomez in the series Only Murders In the Building. Truth Be Told has announced the cast for its second season.
