In critical condition since her car accident on August 5, Anne Heche has been declared dead at the age of 53, as confirmed by one of her representatives. In a statement relayed by Deadline, he said: “While Anne is legally dead according to California law, her heart is still beating, and she has not been taken off life support so that One Legacy can see if she is a match for organ donation.”

In a statement, her loved ones said, “We have lost a bright light, a kind and most joyful soul, a loving mother, and a loyal friend. Anne will be deeply missed but she lives on through her beautiful sons, her iconic body of work, and her passionate advocacy. Her bravery for always standing in her truth, spreading her message of love and acceptance, will continue to have a lasting impact.”

Anne Heche made a name for herself in the 1990s by starring in numerous films including Donnie Brasco, Volcano, I Know What You Did Last Summer, Wag the Dog and Six Days Seven Nights.

She then played on the small screen in series such as Ally McBeal, Everwood, Men in Trees, Hung, Save Me, Aftermath, Chicago PD, All Rise, or The Brave. She had just finished shooting The Idol, a series signed by Reza Fahim, Sam Levinson (Euphoria) and The Weeknd in which she played with Lily-Rose Depp, Debby Ryan and Elizabeth Berkley.
