A page will be turned on CBS next May with the announced of the end of one of its longest-running series. Two years after the end of NCIS: New Orleans, the American network has decided not to offer an additional season to the series NCIS: Los Angeles. The members of the OPS will therefore retire on May 14, 2023, when the final episode of the 14th season will air.
In a statement, Amy Reisenbach, president of CBS Entertainment, said, “For 14 seasons, NCIS: Los Angeles has been a stalwart of our lineup with characters who were a joy to watch. It’s no surprise this show succeeded as a global franchise. From Day 1, the cast, producers and crew were amazing Network/Studios partners, and their teamwork, talent and spirit vividly came through on the screen. […] We plan to give them the big sendoff they and their fans deserve.”
For his part, NCIS: Los Angeles showrunner R. Scott Gemmill has promised that the series will have a satisfying ending that does justice to all of the beloved characters.
The actors of the series also reacted, highlighting the extraordinary journey that this 14-year adventure has been. The cast of NCIS: Los Angeles included Chris O’Donnell, LL Cool J, Eric Christian Olsen, Daniela Ruah, Caleb Castille, Medalion Rahimi and Erik Palladino.
This NCIS Crossover was a huge success! After 14 seasons, it’s the perfect time to end @NCISLA on top! I look forward to continuing my partnership with @CBSTVStudios.
