Netflix announces the release date of The Last Kingdom: Seven Kings Must Die

The story of The Last Kingdom will soon come to an end with the release of the film Seven Kings Must Die and fans of the series created by Stephen Butchard will not have long to wait before discovering this final chapter.

According to information from Variety, quickly confirmed by the official accounts of the series on social networks, Netflix will offer its subscribers the feature film directed by Ed Bazalgette from April 14, 2023. According to the official synopsis, The Last Kingdom: Seven Kings Must Die will follow Uhtred (Alexander Dreymon), along with several beloved characters from the series, as he must traverse a divided kingdom once again. After the death of King Edward, heirs and invaders vie for power and the crown. And when an alliance comes looking for Uhtred’s help, he must make a choice between those he loves most and the dream of a united England.

Alexander Dreymon, who plays the main character, said “it has been such an honor to be part of telling this story for all these years”. He adds: “As an actor, I have been so challenged and gratified by the privilege of playing Uhtred. Hanging up Uhtred’s sword after filming ‘Seven Kings’ felt, ironically, heavy – even though I know that our tale has reached its conclusion. As an EP on the show, I could not be more proud of the hundreds of people who spent thousands of hours to make the best product possible. As for our loyal fans…what can I say? You are the reason we’ve reached this point and got to bring our saga to the end. This, as it always has been, is for you.”

The cast of The Last Kingdom: Seven Kings Must Die includes Mark Rowley (Finan), Arnas Fedaravicius (Sihtric), Harry Gilby (Aethelstan), Rod Hallett (Constantine), James Northcote (Aldhelm), Ross Anderson (Domnal), and Ewan Horrocks (Aelfweard). Arnas Fedaravicius and James Northcote will be in France next November for the Everlasting Adventure 3 convention, which will be the perfect opportunity to talk about their experiences on the set of the movie.
