Launched in 2019, The Mandalorian series quickly found an audience on Disney+, with Jon Favreau‘s show being well helped by the buzz generated by Grogu’s character. Three seasons later, and with Season 4 now in production, baby Yoda and Mando are set to continue their adventures on the big screen, as revealed by Lucasfilm.
While the plot of The Mandalorian & Grogu is not yet known, Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy says: “Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni have ushered into Star Wars two new and beloved characters, and this new story is a perfect fit for the big screen”. For his part, Jon Favreau, who will direct and produce, said “The prospect of bringing the Mandalorian and his apprentice Grogu to the big screen is extremely exciting”.
The Mandalorian & Grogu is scheduled to begin filming later this year. A release date has not yet been announced by Lucasfilm.
