Descendants: A first teaser for the movie Descendants: The Rise of Red

The students of Auradon Prep will have to deal with a new headmistress in Descendants: The Rise of Red, coming to Disney+ in the summer of 2024. As revealed in an early teaser, it’s now Uma, played by China Anne McLaine, who is at the head of the school, and changes are coming. The first of these is the opening of the school to all kingdoms, including Wonderland. This is an opportunity to meet Red (Kylie Cantrall), daughter of the Queen of Hearts, who will be one of the main characters in the new Descendants movie.

In Descendants: The Rise of Red, we follow Red (Kylie Cantrall), the rebellious and smart daughter of the Queen of Hearts (Rita Ora), and Chloe (Malia Baker), the athletic perfectionist daughter of Cinderella (Brandy Norwood) and Prince Charming (Paolo Montalban). To prevent a catastrophic coup in Auradon, the two girls must join forces and travel through time using the White Rabbit’s pocket watch.

In a statement to People, China Anne McLaine made no secret of her apprehension about joining the project after Cameron Boyce‘s death in 2019, saying, “I was apprehensive to revisit the Descendants world at first, because losing Cam was the first heartbreak I’ve ever experienced. But once I saw how excited the new generation of kids were, it reminded me of myself when we created the original films.” She adds: “Everything came together beautifully. There’s one scene that is very special to me, I’m sure the audience will be able to guess which one it is once they see the movie. Stepping back into Uma was very fulfilling, and healing for me.”
