This weekend, Kenny Ortega, the showrunner of Julie and the Phantoms, attended the Dream It At Home 8 virtual convention along with several members of the cast: Madison Reyes (Julie), Owen Patrick Joyner (Alex), Savannah Lee May (Carrie), Booboo Stewart (Willie), Jadah Marie (Flynn) and Sacha Carlson (Nick).

On this occasion, Kenny Ortega talked about the possible renewal of the series: “We know the fans want it badly”. He added: “for sure we’re thinking about coming back. We all want to, we’re all working towards it. The pandemic hasn’t helped, it slowed down our industry and made it difficult for us to do a project like Julie and the Phantoms with dancers and music.”

The showrunner of Julie and the Phantoms said he doesn’t want to go back on a second season if it can’t include all the elements that made season 1 a success, which is why filming can’t take place at the moment and which could explain why Netflix hasn’t renewed the series yet.

Kenny Ortega also mentioned possible shooting dates, in case of a new season: “We’re hoping that we’re going to find time later, maybe this spring or summer to be able to come back and all be together again. “ We hope so too!
