While Kenny Ortega was hoping for a second season of Julie and the Phantoms, Netflix decided otherwise. Indeed, the streaming platform decided to cancel the series after a single season of 9 episodes as Kenny Ortega revealed exclusively at the Back to the Musical World convention.

The executive producers of the series had learned the news shortly before his departure for Paris and wanted to inform the fans of Julie and the Phantoms first, which is why he revealed this information at the Parisian event. Very touched by this announcement, Kenny Ortega wanted to thank the fans who have supported the series throughout the past year.

The actors present (Sacha Carlson, Madison Reyes, Jadah Marie and Booboo Stewart), also very affected by this announcement, had a word for the fans of Julie and the Phantoms and thanked them for their unfailing support.

As a reminder, Julie and the Phantoms follows Julie (Madison Reyes), a young girl who rediscovers her love of music when the ghosts of a ’90s rock band come into her life.
