The new adventures of Willow (Warwick Davis) come to an end on Disney+. The series, which was a sequel to Ron Howard‘s cult 1988 film, did not get the green light from Disney for a second season.

Deadline, which first revealed the information, says that this decision comes at a time when all companies involved in streaming have decided to reduce their production costs. The company with the big ears is no exception.

The 8-episode series, produced by Jonathan Kasdan, Ron Howard, Wendy Mericle and Bob Dolman among others, centers on an unlikely group of heroes, including Willow, who embark on a dangerous quest to distant lands where they must face their inner demons and unite to save their world.

The cast includes Ellie Bamber (The Serpent), Ruby Cruz (Mare of Easttown), Erin Kellyman (The Falcon and the Winter Soldier), Tony Revolori (Servant), Amar Chadha-Patel (Beecham House), Dempsey Birk (The Birch) ou encore Joonas Suotamo (Star wars).
