The Mysterious Benedict Society, based on the best-selling novels by Trenton Lee Stewart has not delivered all its secrets. And for good reason, Disney+ has just announced the renewal of the series for a second season. For those who are not familiar with the series, it follows four orphans who are recruited by the eccentric Mr. Benedict to stop a global scheme.

Tony Hale, who plays Mr. Benedict and Mr. Curtain, the show’s protagonist and antagonist said, “This show has been an absolute thrill to work on. I’m so thankful to the fans and Disney for the opportunity to keep telling this incredible story.”

For their part, Matt Manfredi and Phil Hay, writers of the series, and Darren Swimmer and Todd Slavkin, showrunners, said in a joint statement: “We’re thrilled to have the opportunity to continue our journey into Trenton Lee Stewart’s witty, warm and wonderful world in a second season of The Mysterious Benedict Society. This has already been such a special experience, thanks to our remarkable cast and collaborators. The belief that 20th Television and Disney+ have shown in our show and their commitment to its values of kindness, empathy and the celebration of different ways of being make this all very much a joy.”

According to Disney+’s official press release, the second season of the series The Mysterious Benedict Society will follow our four intrepid orphans as they are reunited, a year after their first mission, by Mr. Benedict and his acolytes to thwart the evil “Emergency” created by Benedict’s twin brother, Dr. L.D. Curtain. Now they must embark on a dangerous journey, using their ingenuity, intelligence and empathy to try to stop Curtain as he pursues a new strategy with international repercussions.

Filming for Season 2 will begin in early 2022. So we’ll have to be patient to see these new episodes of The Mysterious Benedict Circle.
