Guest of the 2021 edition of the New York Comic con, David Harbour shared some insights about Stranger Things season 4.

During his panel, the actor who plays Jim Hopper said that fans should expect a “tremendous arc of redemption” regarding his character and considers having the best plot of the season. He added: “there’s a rebirth to him this season and a coming to terms with this toxicity that he’s carried around and this trauma, really, which is where it comes from, and him struggling with that.”

The actor explained that Season 4 will explore these traumas he refers to and that we’ll see an “incredible storyline” regarding Hopper’s attempt to find his family. This should lead to more development of the dynamics between his character and Joyce Byers (Winona Ryder) but also with Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown).

The next season of Stranger Things will also be an opportunity to delve deeper into what Eleven went through at the institute, but also to see that the Creel storyline is intimately connected to the situation at Hawkins.

During his panel, David Harbour also talked about the mixed feelings of the fans about his character: “Even in season two in terms of his relationship with Eleven, it started to get messed up in terms of his control issues. And then in season three, a lot of people had mixed reactions to him being a bit of a toxic masculinity aspect to him, which is very much an ’80s rom-com trope that we were playing with.” But despite all that, the actor points to the qualities of Jim Hopper: “The thing about him that I love is he will die for your children”.

Finally, David Harbour teased the upcoming arrival of a new Stranger Things season 4 teaser. In the meantime, you can watch the first three seasons on Netflix. As for the fourth season, it will be released in 2022.
