The world of Avatar: The Last Airbender continues to expand on Paramount+. At New York Comic Con 2026, the franchise’s creators, Michael Dante DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko, announced the renewal of Avatar: Seven Havens and confirmed the greenlight for a new animated series titled Avatar Kuruk: Wave of Chaos.
Two More Seasons for Avatar: Seven Havens
Launched on October 13 on Paramount+, Avatar: Seven Havens will continue its story beyond its first two seasons. Already renewed for a second season of 13 episodes, the series has just been greenlit for Books 3 and 4, as the creators announced during a panel dedicated to the Avatar universe at New York Comic Con.
Set after the events of The Legend of Korra, the series takes place in a world ravaged by a cataclysm. It follows Pavi, a young earthbender who discovers she is the new Avatar. But in this troubled era, that title makes her a threat in the eyes of humanity rather than a symbol of hope. To survive, she’ll have to team up with her long-lost twin sister and unravel the mystery of their origins in order to save the last bastions of civilization.
Paramount+ has not yet announced a release date for these new seasons.
An animated series about the Avatar Kuruk
Another announcement from the panel: Avatar Kuruk: Wave of Chaos, a new original animated series that will expand the franchise.
The story will follow Kuruk, a rebellious teenage Avatar who decides to break with thousands of years of tradition by setting out across the world to master the four elements. Throughout his adventures, he’ll have to evade his angry teacher, rowdy pirates, and unpredictable spirits, all while helping the locals in his own unique way.
Produced by Avatar Studios and Nickelodeon Animation Studios, the series will be directed by Bryan Konietzko. Attendees at New York Comic Con got a first look at Kuruk and his pet, Nikik (see below).
