A page will turn for Grey’s Anatomy and Station 19 at the end of the 2022-2023 season. After Ellen Pompeo, another key figure of the series will say goodbye. Indeed, as announced by Deadline, Krista Vernoff, showrunner of the two series, has decided to leave her functions.

In a statement, the one who also served as executive producer said: “It has been the privilege of a lifetime to be entrusted to run Grey’s Anatomy for the past six years and Station 19 for the last four. The passion of the dedicated fandoms and the impact that these shows have on hearts and minds cannot be overstated. The amount of talent in these two extraordinary casts and these two brilliant writers rooms is beyond measure — and these crews work magic week after week.”

ABC, through Craig Erwich, President of ABC Entertainment, thanked Krista Vernoff for her creative strength in making both series successful over the past several years. Shonda Rhimes, for her part, thanked her former protégé and said she will always be a part of the Shondaland family.

At the moment, we do not know who will replace Krista Vernoff if Grey’s Anatomy and Station 19 are renewed for the 2023-2024 season. However, Deadline understands that Meg Marinis is expected to take over Grey’s Anatomy, while the Station 19 series would be given to the duo Zoanne ClackPeter Paige.

Note that the casts of Station 19 and Grey’s Anatomy will be in France next June for the First Responders Reunion convention. The first announced guest is Stefania Spampinato (Read more).
