If Stranger Things will end at the end of its fifth season, the projects to keep the franchise alive are numerous. While the series will soon be adapted into a play and that a live-action spin-off is being considered, Netflix has decided to order, in addition, an animated series based on the universe created by the Duffer brothers.
While the title of this new production has not been revealed, Matt and Ross Duffer said in a statement that they have always dreamed of an animated Stranger Things series “in the vein of the Saturday morning cartoons that we grew up loving”.
The series is being developed by the Duffer brothers through their company Upside Down Pictures, as well as Shawn Levy, Dan Cohen and Eric Robles. Robles and his team were praised by Matt and Ross Duffer for their work on the animated series: “We couldn’t be more blown away by what Eric Robles and his team have come up with –– the scripts and artwork are incredible, and we can’t wait to share more with you!”
