25 years after its release, the movie The Full Monty will have a sequel in the form of a mini-series. Ordered by Disney+, this eight-episode series is being developed by Simon Beaufoy, the film’s screenwriter, and Uberto Pasolini, producer of the movie.

They will not be the only ones to make their return since the original cast has also agreed to this new adventure. Robert Carlyle will take back his role as Gaz, Mark Addy will come back as Dave, Lesley Sharp will play Jean again, Hugo Speer will play Guy, Paul Barber will play Horse, Steve Huison will be Lomper, Wim Snape will lend his features to Nathan again and Tom Wilkinson will take back his character of Gerald.

The series will follow them as they navigate the post-industrial city of Sheffield and explore how collective effort can still triumph over adversity.

Simon Beaufoy said he was delighted “to get all the Monty Men back together again – now with a chaotic entourage of children, grandchildren, pets and assorted hangers-on – to see what life in Sheffield is like twenty-five years on.”

Lee Mason, head of scripted content for Disney+, adds, “Twenty-five years ago Simon introduced us to a group of funny, fearless and resilient unemployed working-class men from Sheffield and the world fell in love with them. We’re delighted to reunite the original cast for this brand-new series on Disney+ to catch up with these iconic characters and what they’ve been up to since we last saw them on stage in all their glory, and we can’t wait to introduce a host of exciting new faces and characters.”

Filming for The Full Monty is currently in progress in Sheffield and Manchester. No air date has been released at this time.
