Ghostface has been haunting movie theaters for more than 25 years, and there’s no end in sight. After the success of the last two installments in the Scream saga, which grossed $137.7 million and $168.9 million, respectively, Spyglass has decided to make Scream 7 official. With one major change.
Unlike Scream (2022) and Scream 6 (2023), Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett, who were behind the “reboot” of the franchise, are giving their place behind the camera to Christopher Landon. The director is no stranger to the horror genre, having helmed the duology Happy Birthday, Paranormal Activity: The Marked Ones, Freaky and Scouts Guide to the Zombie Apocalypse.
Due to the Hollywood strike, there is currently no writer attached to Scream 7. It remains unclear if the Carpenter sisters, played by Jenna Ortega and Melissa Barrera, will return. Answer in the coming months.
