Prime Video has decided to capitalize on the success of The Boys and has just officially ordered a new spin-off. At San Diego Comic-Con 2024, the streaming platform announced the production of Vought Rising, a prequel to the superhero series.
Starring Jensen Ackles and Aya Cash, who plays Soldier Boy and Stormfront, Vought Rising will be set in the 1950s, according to Eric Kripke and Paul Grellong, the show’s executive producers: “We are excited to bring you the next deranged series from the world of The Boys. It’s a twisted murder mystery about the origins of Vought in the 1950s, the early exploits of Soldier Boy, and the diabolical maneuvers of a Supe known to fans as Stormfront, who was then going by the name Clara Vought. We cannot wait to blow your minds and trouble your souls with this salacious, grisly saga drenched in blood and Compound V.”
Vought Rising is the third The Boys spin-off to be developed by Prime Video, following Gen V and The Boys Presents: Diabolical.
Jensen Ackles also back for final season of The Boys
If you can’t wait to see Jensen Ackles as Soldier Boy, Prime Video used The Boys panel at San Diego Comic-Con 2024 to confirm the actor’s return for the final season of the hit series. He will appear as a series regular, Eric Kripke revealed during the panel. What role will Soldier Boy play in the final adventures of Homelander and company? Answer in the coming months.
In addition to The Boys and Vought Rising, Jensen Ackles is also attached to a Prime Video show. As announced a few weeks ago, the actor will star in the series Countdown, created by Derek Haas (One Chicago, FBI: International). He will play Mark Meachum, an LAPD officer who is recruited to join a secret team of undercover agents from all branches of law enforcement after a suspicious murder in broad daylight. When the truth of a more sinister plot emerges, the team must put aside their divergent personal interests to unite and save a city of millions.
