Following The Handmaid’s Tale, Hulu and Bruce Miller continued their collaboration with The Testaments, an adaptation of Margaret Atwood’s novel of the same name. It has already been a success for the streaming platform, as the series has won over both audiences and critics, to the point that it was renewed for a second season even before the final episode of the first season aired.
This new series, set several years after the events of The Handmaid’s Tale, follows the journey of two teenage girls: Agnes (Chase Infiniti), a pious and devoted young woman, and Daisy (Lucy Halliday), a newcomer discovering the unforgiving rules of this authoritarian world. Both enroll in Aunt Lydia’s (Ann Dowd) prestigious school, an institution where obedience is held as a dogma and enforced with extreme rigor in the name of a supposedly divine morality. Their meeting will profoundly upend their lives and become the starting point for a major reevaluation of their past, present, and future.
The first season of the series The Testaments, consisting of eight episodes, also features Mattea Conforti (NOS4A2), Isolde Ardies (Ruby and the Well), Shechinah Mpumlwana (Lyla in the Loop), Rowan Blanchard (Snowpiercer), Birva Pandya (The Institute), Mabel Li (Safe Home), Amy Seimetz (Sweet Tooth), Brad Alexander (You), Zarrin Darnell-Martin (Ginny & Georgia), Eva Foote (Devil in Disguise: John Wayne Gacy), and Kira Guloien (Robyn Hood).
