The prison world of Prison Break is about to make a comeback on the small screen! According to Deadline, streaming platform Hulu is currently developing a new version of the hit FOX series. Directed by Mayans M.C. creator Elgin James, the series will be a new chapter set in the same universe as Prison Break.
Originally airing on FOX between 2005 and 2009, Prison Break returned for a fifth season in 2017, reuniting Lincoln Burrows (Dominic Purcell) and Michael Scofield (Wentworth Miller). But these two iconic characters and their actors are unlikely to appear in the credits of the Hulu series, especially since Wentworth Miller has indicated that he will be done with the show for good in 2020. As a result, the Prison Break reboot is expected to focus on new characters, the details of which have yet to be revealed.
This isn’t the first time a Prison Break reboot/revival has been mentioned. In 2020, Michael Torn, president of Fox Entertainment, stated that he was considering spin-offs to expand the Prison Break universe. This will ultimately be on Hulu, a platform owned by the Disney group like FOX.
