Sydney Sweeney, known for her roles in Euphoria and The White Lotus, used an interview with Variety to reveal the role she will play in the Madame Web movie.
In Sony’s Spider-Man spin-off, Sydney Sweeney will play Julia Carpenter, also known as the second Spider-Woman in the Marvel Comics. The actress confesses that she panicked when she was chosen for the role and bought all the comics that mentioned her character to be as prepared as possible.
Sydney Sweeney adds that the film, directed by S.J. Clarkson, will be “different from what people expect a superhero movie to be.” All the more reason to be excited about this feature film, the details of which are largely being kept under wraps.
Scheduled for release in the U.S. on February 14, 2024, Madam Web will star Dakota Johnson (Fifty Shades of Grey) as Cassandra Webb / Madam Web. The cast also includes Emma Roberts (American Horror Story) as Mary Parker, Adam Scott (Parks and Recreation) as Ben Parker, Isabela Merced (Let It Snow) as Anya Corazon and Celeste O’Connor (Ghostbusters: Afterlife) as Mattie Franklin. Mike Epps (The Upshaws) and Tahar Rahim (The Serpent) are also expected to join the cast in unspecified roles.
