While Outer Banks fans are currently watching season 4 of their favourite series, Netflix has confirmed that the programme will return for a final season. An announcement that is likely to disappoint some, but is in line with what the show’s creators had in mind from the start.
In a statement released by Netflix, Josh Pate, Jonas Pate and Shannon Burke said: “Seven years ago, in the summer of 2017, we came across a photo of teenagers on the beach at dusk during a power outage. That photo sparked and idea for a story of four best friends who only want to have a good time all the time. From this beginning, we imagined a mystery that would lead to a five-season journey of adventure, treasure hunting and friendship.“
They added: “Now, with a little sadness but also excitement, we’re putting season four behind us and lare turning to season five, in which we hope to bring our beloved Pogues home in the way we imagined and planned years ago. Season five will be our last season, and we think it will be our best yet. We hope you’ll join us for one more paddle out to the surf break.”

No air date has yet been announced for season 5 of Outer Banks. But we’ll have to be patient before we see Chase Stokes, Madelyn Cline, Madison Bailey, Jonathan Daviss or Carlacia Grant on our screens again. In it’s article announcing the show’s renewal, Tudum states that the scripts for Season 5 are still being written, so the new episodes of Outer Banks should not be available on Netflix until late 2025 or 2026.
